HOOPS -- MSC honors Nicole Bowers

COLUMBIA, KY -- Cumberland University's Nicole Bowers has been named the Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.

Bowers, a junior forward who prepped a Nashville's Hillsboro High School, led the Phoenix to a 2-0 week to close out their regular season with wins over No. 21 Pikeville (Ky.) and Cumberlands (Ky.).

In the upset victory of the Bears, Bowers posted her seventh double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. She was 6-for-7 from the field, while recording four blocks and grabbing a pair of steals.

Against Cumberlands, she scored 21 points as she went 15-of-21 from the free-throw line, while shooting 3-for-4 from the field. Bowers tallied seven rebounds and chipped in with one block, one assist and a steal.

The Phoenix finished the regular season with a record of 17-10 and enter Thursday's opening round action of the MSC tournament as the No. 6 seed.
