Byrd, Price & Blair
Three Wilson County basketball standouts, two boys and a girl, have been voted All-State in their respective classifications by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
Nominations were accepted from TSWA members and were whittled down during a selection meeting held during the BlueCross Championships earlier this month in Murfreesboro.
Watertown High senior guard Seth Price was named to the Class A team.
Price scored over 2,000 career points and is Wilson County's all-time leading scorer.
Four year-starter at Watertown High, Price was a two-time District 8-A Player of the Year and 2017 District Tournament MVP.
As a senior, he averaged 20.8 points per game and led Purple Tigers to District 8-A tournament title for the first time in 15 years and a record of 23-7.
Wilson Central's Addison Byrd was named to the Class AAA all-state team.
A UT-Chattanooga signee, Byrd helped lead the Lady Wildcats to a record of 30-3 as well as both regular season and tournament championship of District 9-AAA. The District 9-AAA Most Valuable Player, Byrd averaged 17 points and four rebounds per game.
She shot 39 percent on three-point attempts and 82 percent at the line.
Byrd scored over 1,000 points in her Wilson Central career.
Friendship Christian senior guard Zach Blair was named to the Division II all-state team.
Blair averaged 17.1 points per game in 2016-2017 and helped lead the Commanders to a record of 20-10 on the season and a No. 2 seed in the East-West District 1-A tournament.
Blair, who scored over 1,000 points in his FCS career, scored a career-high 41 points against Middle Tennessee Christian back on Dec. 10 -- a night he connected on five 3-pointers and went 12-of-14 at the line.
