HOOPS -- WC plays for 5-AAA title

Rossview comes in 30-1
CLARKSVILLE -- With a berth in the Class AAA sectional round secure, Wilson Central's Lady Wildcats will take on Rossview High Wednesday for the Region 5-AAA tournament championship.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Clarksville High's William Workman Gymnasium.

Rossview, winners of 20 straight games, topped host Clarksville 53-46 Monday -- improving to 30-1 on the season.

Wilson Central reached tonight's finals with a 46-24 win over Mt. Juliet Monday -- eliminating the Lady Bears (18-10) from the postseason.

Coach John Wild's club remains perfect on the season at 31-0.

WCHS took an 11-5 first quarter lead over Mt. Juliet and pushed the margin to 22-12 at intermission.

Piper Elrod connected on four 3-pointers and led the Lady 'Cats with 13 points.

Kendall Spray added 12 and pulled in eight rebounds while Taylor Tucker chipped in with nine points.

Mt. Juliet's Karly Dyer closed out her career in black and gold with 10 points.

Win or lose tonight, Central will play in a sectional Saturday -- vs. Ravenwood or Dickson County.
