GLADEVILLE -- Wilson Central honored girls basketball coach John Wild last week for reaching a milestone -- his 500th career victory.

Wild, now in his third season as coach of the Lady Wildcats, was presented a commemorative ball by WCHS athletic director Chip Bevis prior to the Jan. 27 home game with Lebanon.

His 500th victory came Tuesday, Dec. 20 -- a 36-21 decision over Rossview at the Lady Red Hawks Christmas Tournament.

Wild is a former college assistant at Evansville and Lipscomb. His teams won a boys (Moore County, 1999) state title and a girls (Bradford, 2000) state championship.

Last season's Wilson Central squad went 33-1 and reached the first round of the Class AAA state tournament.

He has also been a high school coach at Harpeth (boys), Lawrence County (girls), Franklin County (girls) and Riverdale (girls).
