A canned food item will grant your child admission to meet their favorite superheroes and cartoon characters at the upcoming Hungry for Heroes events.

Hungry for Heroes is proudly presented by Youth Leadership Wilson and two events are scheduled - Saturday, Feb. 18th from 9-11 a.m. at Castle Heights Elementary Cafeteria in Lebanon and Saturday, Feb. 15th from 9-11 a.m. at West Elementary Cafeteria in Mt. Juliet.

"Each year the youth must do a group project that benefits the community," explained Leadership Wilson Executive Director Dorie Mitchell. "Each of the youth will dress up as a 'Hero' and we invite all pre-school and elementary-age students in the Lebanon Special and Wilson County School districts to attend."

Each child who attends will be given a goodie bag, which includes an autograph book. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to take photos.

One canned food item is required per person for the drive, which will in-turn be donated. The food collected at Castle Heights will benefit the LSSD backpack program to assist hungry children on the weekend.

The food collected at West Elementary will benefit the Wilson County Schools backpack program.

One thousand canned goods were collected at last year's inaugural event.
