County fair to proceed with Amusements of America rides

The Wilson County Fair will continue to use Amusements of America to provide carnival rides on the midway, according to Randall Clemons, president of Wilson County Promotions.

PEARL, MS - The Biloxi Shuckers snapped a four-game losing streak in a big way with a 7-0 victory over the Double-A Mississippi Braves Sunday with a big assist from a former Cumberland University All-American.

Southern League All-Star Aaron Wilkerson threw the first nine-inning complete game shutout in franchise history to bring the Shuckers within 3.5 games of first place. Wilkerson (9-4) was a calming veteran presence on the mound, and he carried the Shuckers to victory with a two-hit shutout.

CLARKSVILLE -- The Lebanon Hot Rods, a team comprised of 8U players from the Lebanon Girls Softball League, capped off a 20-9 summer tournament run by winning the United Southern Girls Fastpitch World Series earlier this month at at RichEllen Park in Montgomery County.

The Hot Rods defeated Mt. Juliet Gold 12-1 Sunday, July 16 in the finals.
