CU opens vs. Lindsey Wilson Aug. 25
Cumberland University football coach Donnie Suber will put his charges through a scrimmage Saturday as the Phoenix works toward the 2016 season-opener vs. Lindsey Wilson.

Plans call for Saturday's scrimmage to start at 3 p.m. at Nokes-Lasater Field. The scrimmage will be open to the public.

Cumberland will take on Lindsey Wilson Thursday, Aug. 25 in a 7 p.m. home game.

The opening game theme is "Faith and Family Night" as area youth groups are invited to attend a free Derek Minor concert at 6 p.m.

Area churches will pass out Cumberland Athletics wristbands to youth members of their congregation for free admission to the game.

Anyone attending the game may attend the concert for free.

Wilson County Fellowship of Christian Athletics Director Tim Bryant will serve as master of ceremonies for the event, with sponsor Lebanon Chick-fil-A giving away free meals for the church group with the highest percentage of youth in attendance as well as taking part in a halftime kicking contests for youth ministers.
