A man who was shot and killed during a party in Statesville this past weekend was buried Thursday.

The investigation is continuing in the case. Authorities are still interviewing persons regarding the shooting.

Darrell “Crow” Sloan, 38, of Lebanon, was pronounced dead on the scene and the preliminary autopsy found his death to be from multiple shotgun wounds at close range.

Sloan’s funeral was yesterday at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown.

Sheriff Terry Ashe said that although Sloan was killed by a shotgun, more than one weapon was fired.

Eddie Goode, who was the party’s host at 155 Knight’s Creek but not the owner of the house, called the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department early Sunday morning after he said he woke up to find Sloan dead in the game room.

“This is a senseless killing,” Ashe said. “We are working every angle to find out what happened that night.”
