WATERTOWN – Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, February 14 at Hunter Funeral Home for Mr. Griffin, 93, of Watertown. Son of the late Ballard and Mettie Cunningham Griffin, he passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009.
A graduate of Watertown High School, Mr. Griffin was a longtime member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Watertown Lions Club and actively involved in other civic endeavors.
He was owner and operator of Griffin’s Grocery for many years, was an avid sports fan and loyal supporter of the Vanderbilt Commodores and New York Yankees.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday. Services will be conducted by Rev. Tim Diffenderfer. Interment will follow at Jones Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Griffin is survived by sons John (Joyce) Griffin, David (Brenda) Griffin and Richard (Virginia) Griffin — all of Nashville. Also surviving is sister Dara Shaver of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Ben (Kate) Griffin, Eric (Emily) Griffin, Michael Griffin, Ginger and Lynne Griffin; great grandchildren Jackson, Charlie, Lindsey and Mason; sisters-in-law Juanita Griffin and Grace Donnell.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffin is preceded in death by his wife Sarah Vaught Griffin; brothers Wayne, Layne and Fred; sisters Ellen and Edith.
