Jackson appointed to county industrial development board

Dr. Shanna Jackson

At its March meeting, the Wilson County Commission appointed Dr. Shanna Jackson of Mt. Juliet to the Wilson County Industrial Development Board.

Jackson currently serves as the associate vice president of the new Williamson campus for Columbia State Community College. Previously, Jackson served as the dean of extended services for the college, providing leadership for the extended campus and the office of economic and workforce development. She also has academic responsibility for the commercial entertainment, film crew technology and hospitality management programs.

Jackson has more than 20 years of higher education experience, including leadership positions with Volunteer State Community College and South College. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and an MBA from Florida A&M University. She received her Ed.D. in 2007 from Tennessee State University.

A former member of the Mt. Juliet Planning Commission, Jackson is a graduate of Leadership Wilson and is an active member of many organizations throughout the community. She currently serves on the boards of Williamson Inc., TMA, Leadership Franklin and Mercy Community Healthcare.

Jackson has lived in Mt. Juliet since 2000. Her husband, Ron Jackson, is a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School, and the couple is the proud parents of two children, Cara and Ryan.
