Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mr. Morgan, 84, of Lebanon. A member of the College Hills Church of Christ and retired after 38 years as District Manager of South Central Bell, Mr. Morgan died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Nashville's St. Thomas Hospital.
Known as "Grandad" to his familt and friends, Mr. Morgan was a graduate of Columbia High School where he participated in basketball, baseball and football. He was called "Golden Toe" by his classmates. He was an avid golfer and member of the Lebanon Golf & Country Club.
The family will receive friends Friday between the hours of 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at the Partlow Funeral Chapel. Services will be conducted by Dr. Larry Locke with interment at the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include children: Larry (Trish) Morgan, Mac (Janet) Morgan and Joy (William) Bell; grandchildren Sarah Morgan, Zac (Alexis) Morgan, Rob Bell, Matthew Bell, Beth (Mike) Morgan, Jay Morgan and Eric Farrell; great grandchildren: Chris Ledbetter, Phoenix Morgan and Telisha Morgan; brother Hal (Audrey) Morgan; as well as other loving family members.
Mr. Morgan is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Howard and Elizabeth Lanius Morgan; wife Peggy Morgan; brothers James Howard "Red" Morgan, Abe Morgan & Jack Morgan; an infant brother and an infant sister.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family.
Active pallbearers: Rob Bell, Matthew Bell, Zac Morgan, Jay Morgan, Eric Farrell, Jim Andrews, Jerry Stairs and Sam Jones. Honorary: Mr. Morgan's golf buddies at the Lebanon Golf & Country Club and members of Frank Gailbreath's Sunday School Class of College Hills Church of Christ.
Arrangements are in the care of Lebanon's Partlow Funeral Chapel.
