MT. JULIET -- Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10 at Bond Memorial Chapel for Mr. Simms, 89, of Mt. Juliet.
A charter member of Victory Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class, Mr. Simms died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009.
The son of the late, Charles Howard and Virginia Price Simms, he served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Visitation with the family will be 2-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service time Saturday at Bond Memorial Chapel, N. Mt. Juliet Road. Services will be conducted by Rev. Chuck Groover. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: sons Bobby (Karen) Simms, John (Myra) Simms -- all of Mt. Juliet, and Charles (Lori) Simms of Donelson. Also surviving are grandchildren Kerry (Chad) Swallows, Lisa (Jeff) Ware, Jack Simms, Drew Simms, Carlie Simms and Nicole Gore; great grandchildren Ellie Swallows and Matthew Swallows as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Simms is preceded in death by his wife Jessie S. Simms (April 20, 2007) and siblings Rubye Bentley, Howard Simms, Nannie Mae Shipp, Alma Brown, Fred Simms and Edna Taylor.
Active pallbearers: Bobby Simms, John Simms, Charles Simms, Jack Simms, Drew Simms and Chad Swallows. Honorary pallbearers: members of the Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.
