John Douglas "Sonny" Richardson, age 80 of the Norene Community, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Summit Medical Center.

He was a native of Madison, TN, but was a long-time resident of Wilson County.

He was the son of the late John Henry and Nellie Richardson and was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Randy Duggin and daughter-in-law, Patti Richardson.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna King Richardson; children, Teresa Duggin and Keith (Pam) Richardson both of Norene, Tammy (Jeff) Cregg of Tomball, TX, Dana (Melanie) Richardson of Murfreesboro, Galen (Angie) Richardson of Milton; grandchildren, Chris (Jan) Duggin, Jennifer (Chris) Bowen, Michelle (Alan) Seagroatt, Micheal Richardson, Amber (Matt) Simons, Matthew Richardson, Miranda Richardson, Lauralee Richardson, Kimberly (Joey) Largent, Kerry Cregg, Claire Cregg, Conner Cornachion; great grandchildren, Lily and London Simons, Gage Seagroatt, Cody Hux, Jamie Largent and Tyler Randolph; sister-in-law, Fran (Craig) Dean.

Sonny was an accomplished mechanic, but his first love was raising cattle and farming. He had been in poor health for several years, but still enjoyed driving around the farm and observing the cows.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Bell officiating.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. till service time Wednesday. Pallbearers, Jerry Jordan, Chris Duggin, Craig Dean, Micheal Richardson, Joey Largent and Bryan Wrather. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fall Creek Baptist Church Children's Fund.
