J.W. "Bill" Martin, of Murfreesboro, formerly of Lebanon, and Sun City Center, Florida died July 2, 2014 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eula McGriff Martin -- a longtime educator in the Lebanon Special School District.
Also surviving are children Rebecca Martin Weis (James Green); John Wm. Martin, Jr. (Debbie) and Margaret Jeanne Martin; sister Jean Martin Dunklin of Lebanon and McMinnville; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren a niece and two nephews.
Mr. Martin was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, retired attorney from Wilson County and Hamilton County, TN, having retired in 1995; native of Davidson County, graduate of Donelson High (’44); attended TN Polytechnic Institute; graduate of Southeastern University, Washington, D.C.; attended Nashville YMCA Law School, graduate of McKenzie College of Law, Chattanooga.
He spent many years with State of Tennessee Department of Employment Security, Chief of Administrative Services, retiring as Senior Claimant Hearing Officer.
It was his wish to donate his body to Meharry Medical College, and to have no services.
