Chad Karl is running for Wilson County School Board, Zone 7. "I am passionate about education and feel that I am uniquely qualified for this position. I both live and work in Zone 7, so I am very accessible and know the area," he said. "I have two children in Wilson County Schools which makes me both parent and a candidate."

After attending Georgia Tech, where he wrestled and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering, Karl has worked in various aspects of business and manufacturing. He presently works as the plant manager of PFP in Lebanon. "I set goals, develop plans to achieve them and build strong teams to accomplish these goals," Karl said. He additionally holds PMP certification as a project manager. "By using my project management skills, I can help to monitor and understand the various projects underway in the county and make sure they are successfully completed," he said.

Karl is a graduate of Leadership Wilson's Class of 2014 and is active in various aspects of Wilson County. He attends First United Methodist Church where he presently directs the acolyte program, helps teach a Sunday School class and supports numerous other events. Three years ago, Karl organized and developed an interdenominational Good Friday prayer walk through Lebanon called Stations through the Square. "It has been exciting to see this grow from an idea into an annual event in which many people look forward to participating," Karl said.

He has served Wilson County Schools in a variety of ways. At both West and West Wilson, he has taught several engineering concepts to students. He has worked closely with the SEEK program at West Wilson and chaperoned the eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. He has also spoken to a Lebanon High School special education class. He continues to put his wrestling skills to use by occasionally working out with the Wilson Central wrestling team.

"I have attended and observed multiple school board meetings and understand many of the issues that the county faces. I am presently meeting with principals and PTSO members to understand their needs. I intend to make sure I listen to all stakeholders in the education system - parents, students, teachers and administration. I also feel that the school board should focus on larger, important issues that face the county and let the day-to-day issues be handled by the principals and staff. Two of these important issues are a long-range plan to keep up with the county's growth and making sure that resources are used wisely," Karl said. "I look forward to getting to know the voters over the next few months. I hope that as you get to know me, you will see how much I care about our children and our schools. As August 4 approaches, I would appreciate your vote and be honored to serve your interests on the school board."
