FRANKFORT, KY -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home for Mr. Kenneth Harp, 82.
Father of Lebanon High football coach Sam Harp, he died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, following a short illness.
A native of Frankfort, Mr. Harp was an active member of the US Navy during the Korean War and a retired foreman of the Jim Beam Distilleries. His greatest joys in life were his family, watching and coaching his children throughout their sports career and playing golf (and has had several hole-in-ones).
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be at at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: his wife of 62 years Rose Mary Harp and children: Kenneth "Sam" Harp (Karen), Rickey Harp (Cheryl) and Kathy Harp Willis (Danny), nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The son of Sam and Mary Rose Harp, Kenneth was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Lindsey Marie Harp and Rachael Harrod, two sisters, Dorothy Gordon and Elizabeth Clark and two brothers, Woodrow and Raymond Harp.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages expressions of sympathy in his memory to Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church Building Fund, 495 Duckers Road, Midway, KY 40347.
