Recent Wilson Central High graduate Chase Ford signed scholarship papers Monday, June 25 with Cumberland University. Chase is flaned by CU head coach Woody Hunt and his dad Anthony Ford.
An All-District 9-AAA honoree as a senior, the veteran catcher helped lead the Wildcats to a three-year record of 65-37 and back-to-back 9-AAA tournament titles in 2017 and 2016.

Wilson Central's Anthony Ford has been named District 9-AAA Baseball Coach of the Year.
Ford leads the Wildcats into tonight's 6 p.m. District 9-AAA championship game against Beech (6 pm at WCHS) with a record of 21-10.

MT. JULIET -- Brayden Osborne's homer to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning handed Mt. Juliet a thrilling 4-3 victory over District 9-AAA rival Station Camp Wednesday.
The Bears (15-7 / 5-1) led 3-0 until SCHS tied the score with single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh.

MT. JULIET -- Mother Nature was the clear cut winner Tuesday, April 11 as the scheduled District 9-AAA meeting between Lebanon and Mt. Juliet High fell victim to torrential rain.
The 7 p.m. first pitch went off as scheduled under threatening skies, but was play halted twice before officials plugged the plug in the top of the third inning.
MJ Bears sweep Station Camp
LEBANON -- Lathon Whittington lifted a long two-out drive off the glove of a Wilson Central outfielder to tie the score and moments later scampered home from third on an overthrow as Lebanon High climbed off the deck to down the Wildcats 3-2 Wednesday at Brent Foster Field.
With the win, the Blue Devils split the season series with Central and improved to 17-9 overall, 5-3 in the district.
"It was ugly, but we found a way to get it done," said Blue Devil coach Eric Vetetoe.

Longtime Wilson Central teacher and coach Brian Howard couldn't wait any longer.
Howard, an assistant to Wildcat baseball coach Anthony Ford for over a decade and the WCHS golf coach, has resigned to take a higher paying position near his Rutherford County home.
Following a two-year courtship Howard finally gave in and accepted a faculty spot at Stewarts Creek High -- a relatively new Class AAA school in Smyrna.
Wednesday at Drakes Creek Park
Already assured of a berth in the Region 5-AAA tournament, Wilson Central will play for the District 9-AAA title Wednesday -- taking on Hendersonville High. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Hendersonville's Drakes Creek Park.
A three seed, the Wildcats improved to 20-9-1 by eliminating Mt. Juliet 4-1 Monday evening in the finals of the South Bracket.
