Cumberland's baseball game set for Tuesday, March 28 at Martin Methodist has been canceled because of heavy overnight rain in the Pulaski area. No make-up date has been set at this time.
The Phoenix have added a home game for Wednesday against Tennessee Wesleyan at 3 p.m. at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium, a make-up of a March 1 contest that was rained out. That was added Tuesday morning.
Cumberland strands 9 baserunners -
LEBANON -- Brescia's Alex Flock hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs while Logan Wilkerson tossed five strong innings as the Bearcats posted a 5-4 victory over Cumberland Tuesday, March 21 at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium.
Brescia (4-16) broke a six-game losing streak with the win, with Zach Johnson plating the winning run with a two-out single in the seventh.
Johnson was on base four times in the game with a pair of singles and two walks.
Takes MSC weekly award again --
Cumberland's Austin Krajnak repeated as the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week award winner on Monday, batting .476 with four home runs and nine RBIs in seven games for the Phoenix.
The Little Elm, Texas, native belted home runs in all three games of the weekend series against Georgetown College, including a game-winning two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth in the second game of the series.
Campbellsville series moved up
Cumberland's baseball series this weekend at Campbellsville University has shifted up a day because of snow and rain in the forecast on Saturday.
The Phoenix and Tigers will now play a doubleheader Thursday and a single game Friday at HIG Field.
Thursday's doubleheader begins at 12:30 p.m. Central Time and Friday's single game also starts at 12:30 p.m. CT.
Forecasts call for a 90 percent chance of rain and snow and 31-degree temperatures on Saturday in Campbellsville.
RHP for the fall of 2017
Lebanon High senior pitcher Daniel Holmes signed scholarship papers Tuesday, Feb. 21 to continue his education and baseball career with hometown Cumberland University.
In 2016 Holmes was named All-District 9-AAA and was voted Most Improved by the team coaches.
Phoenix slug four HR's
LEBANON -- Cumberland University hitters pounded out 13 hits in Friday afternoon's 11-7 win over Clarke University at Ernest L. Stockton Field.
Game Two of the doubleheader was scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
Phoenix hitters Kevin Connolly, Nick Mira, Austin Krajnak and Rayden Sierra all homered while Steven Hollis had two hits and drove in two runs.
Phoenix move to 5-5 overall
BATESVILLE, ARK -- Mitch Langer and Travis Dohr each tossed seven shutout innings to pick up victories on the mound and Cumberland exploded for seven runs in the final two innings of the second contest, posting 1-0 and 10-0 victories over Lyon College in baseball action Friday in Batesville, Ark.
Dohr (2-0) won the seven-inning opener with seven shutout frames, allowing three hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
The righthander worked around an error and a walk in the first inning, retiring 14 of the next 17 batters.
Phoenix hosts FHU Feb. 14 at 1 pm
Cumberland's Travis Dohr was voted Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday after tossing eight shutout innings in a 10-0 victory over 17th-ranked Middle Georgia State, as announced by the league office.
Dohr was dominant in Saturday's doubleheader opener, allowing just five hits and a hit batter in eight innings.

Cumberland's baseball team takes a record of 1-3 into a three-game weekend series at No. 17-ranked Middle Georgia State.
Friday's first pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Stuckey Field in Cochran, GA. Saturday's twin bill starts at 12 Noon.
Phoenix play at Bethel Wednesday
POPLARVILLE, MS -- Jason Wullenwaber tossed seven innings, Hector Morales posted three hits and Austin Voeller drove in a pair of runs in Cumberland's 9-7 victory over 23rd-ranked William Carey Saturday.
Kyle Allen added a solo homer, his second of the season, and Rayden Sierra collected two hits for the Phoenix (1-2), who ended the opening weekend with a victory after losing 13-4 to No. 9-ranked Missouri Baptist Friday and 16-6 to the Crusaders Thursday.
Jeff Luttrell to be honored
Cumberland baseball will host its annual Leadoff Dinner and Auction at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 in the Benton Jennings Center on the CU campus.
The evening includes a silent and live auction of baseball memorabilia as well as other donated items, with all proceeds benefitting the CU baseball program.
Cumberland will honor former player Jeff Luttrell during this year's festivities.
Creighton's Kevin Connolly to enroll
Coach Woody Hunt's effort to upgrade the roster of his 2017 baseball team continues to gather steam with the commitment of another NCAA Division I transfer. Creighton University outfielder Kevin Connolly (6-1, 180) will join the Phoenix program this fall with three solid seasons under his belt.
"Kevin is a proven Division I hitter, a guy who can give us some production at the top of our lineup," Coach Hunt said.
As a high school senior, Connolly led Creighton Prep in Omaha, NE to the best record in school history (34-4) and a state championship.
Panola infielder Sojka
Cumberland University's baseball program has landed 2016 NJCAA All-American Austin Sojka, a power hitting infielder from Panola Community College (TX). He will enroll in the fall and have two years of eligibility remaining at CU.
A native of Huntington Beach, CA, Sojka played for former CU assistant Todd Shelton at Panola where the Ponies went 38-19 in 2016.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Former Cumberland University All-American Aaron Wilkerson had a strong debut on the mound for his new team Sunday, July 10 after being traded last week to the Milwaukee Brewers organization from the Boston Red Sox.
Former CU All-American pitcher
Following nearly a week of speculation about the possibility of Aaron Wilkerson being called up to pitch for the Boston Red Sox, the former Cumberland University All-American has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Wilkerson, 27, and infield prospect Wendel Rijo were sent to the Brewers Wednesday afternoon in exchange for veteran infielder Aaron Hill.
Fundamental camp opens June 13
LEBANON -- Cumberland University's all-day fundamental baseball camp runs from June 13-16 for ages 8-14. The four-day camp lasts from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day and costs $180 per camper. The morning sessions will emphasize the fundamentals in all phases of the game, while the afternoon sessions will include game situations and scrimmages. Lunch will also be provided to each camper.
Cumberland will host a pitching camp for ages 8-14 from 9 a.m. until Noon on June 20-23. The camp emphasizes basic and advanced fundamentals of pitching and costs $100 per camper.
Cumberland ends season 32-27
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - St. Catharine College took advantage of nine walks and Tyler Devine drove in a pair of runs in a 7-4 victory over Cumberland in a "loser-out" game of the Mid-South Conference Baseball Championships Saturday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
Cumberland ended the season at 32-27 with the loss, eliminated in two games in the conference tournament for the second consecutive season.
1st game of double-elimination
BOWLING GREEN, Ky/ -- No. 3-seeded Cumberland will take on No. 2-seed Lindsey Wilson at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Bowling Green Ballpark in the first game of the double elimination format in the Mid-South Conference Championships.

Senior outfielder from Brentwood
COLUMBIA, Ky -- Cumberland University outfielder Richard Carter has been named the MSC Baseball Player of the Week.
Carter, a senior out of Brentwood (Ravenwood High), led the Phoenix to a 4-0 week as they beat Brescia (Ky.) at home and they capped off the weekend with a three-game sweep against Lyon (Ark.).
Cumberland hitting clinic
Cumberland University baseball coach Woody Hunt is offering winter hitting clinics Friday & Saturday, December 18-19 for ages 8-16 at the Benton Jennings Indoor Facility on campus.
Ages 8-12 are invited to a clinic on Friday, Dec. 18 from 6-8:30 p.m. while ages 13-16 can take part on Saturday, Dec. 19 from 9-11:30 a.m.

Collier granted retro redshirt season --
LEBANON -- Woody Hunt apparently moved to the top of Santa's "nice" list after leading his Cumberland Bulldogs to the 2014 Avista-NAIA National Championship -- his third as head coach.
The jolly fat man placed a 204-pound package under Hunt's tree earlier this week when the NAIA granted right-handed pitcher Jake Collier an extra year of eligibility.
