Spring game planned April 7
LEBANON -- Cumberland football will begin spring practice on Wednesday, March 15, the first of 15 practices, and will conclude the month-long session with a spring game on Friday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Nokes-Lasater Field.

Head coach Donnie Suber and the Phoenix return over 100 players from last year's squad, including 43 letterwinners.

Cumberland's football team can reach the .500 mark Saturday as the Phoenix travel to Grayson, Ky. to take on winless Kentucky Christian University.
Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. with live radio coverage starting at 12 Noon on WANT FM-98.9 and on the Internet at wantfm.com.
The Knights stand 0-5 on the season and have scheduled Cumberland for homecoming.

Late field goal decides game
CLINTON, Miss. - Matt Brasher booted a 37-yard field goal at the buzzer lifting NCAA Division II Mississippi College to a 27-26 victory over Cumberland Saturday, Sept. 24 at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
Cumberland missed three extra points in the game - one left, one off the right upright and the last one without an attempt after a bad snap - but converted a two-point conversion in the first quarter to overcome one of the missed points. Brasher also missed a 37-yard field goal attempt on the first play of the final period, but converted a 26-yard try later in the fourth quarter before the final three points on the last play of the game.

DII squad dominates second half
LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Down 8-7 to Cumberland at intermission, West Alabama dipped into the bullpen and scored 27 unanswered poins in the second half to defeat the Bulldogs 34-8 Thursday night at tiger Stadium.

The win moved the NCAA Division II West Alabama squad to 2-0, while CU slipped to 1-1.
