Mt. Juliet 6, Wilson Central 4 -
MT. JULIET -- Down 2-0 early, Mt. Juliet rallied, then held off a late Wilson Central surge to come away with a 6-4 home win over the Lady Wildcats Wednesday.
With the victory, the Lady Bears improved to 6-5 overall / 2-1 in District 9-AAA while WCHS slipped to 9-6 / 0-2 in the district.
Central grabbed an early lead with single runs in each of the first two innings, only to see Mt. Juliet push across one run in the third, then bunch together a few hits for three in the bottom of the fifth for a 4-2 lead.
Lady 'Cats to host classic games
Wilson Central's softball team will take a record of 6-3 into Thursday's first home game of the 2017 season as they serve as a satellite site for the 23rd annual Southern Warrior Classic.
The Lady Wildcats will play Tullahoma at 4 p.m. followed by an 8 p.m. game versus Silver Creek, Ind.
Mt. Juliet plays for title
MT. JULIET -- Led by a sterling performance from pitcher Dylan Bonds, Mt. Juliet earned a berth in the Region 5-AAA tournament with a 2-0 win over Lebanon Monday in the South Division finals of the District 9-AAA tournament.
The Bears will take on Gallatin Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the District 9-AAA title game. Both teams will advance to the Region 5-AAA tournament later this week.
Bonds (5-0) struck out 14 Blue Devils in the complete game three-hitter. He walked four.
Tuesday at the Commando Classic
HENDERSONVILLE -- Lebanon High's softball team split a pair of games Tuesday in the annual Commando Classic at Drakes Creek Park.
The Lady Devils dropped a 4-3 decision to Class AA power Creek Wood High, then topped Pope John Paul II 6-1 -- giving new head coach Chris Spurlock his initial victory at LHS.

Wednesday at Drakes Creek Park
Already assured of a berth in the Region 5-AAA tournament, Wilson Central will play for the District 9-AAA title Wednesday -- taking on Hendersonville High. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Hendersonville's Drakes Creek Park.
A three seed, the Wildcats improved to 20-9-1 by eliminating Mt. Juliet 4-1 Monday evening in the finals of the South Bracket.
