WCHS girls win Holiday Hoops Classic

EVENSVILLE -- Wilson Central's Lady Wildcats won two games Saturday, Dec. 20 to claim the championship of the Holiday Hoops Classic, hosted by Rhea County High School.

WCHS (now 11-4) defeated Hamilton Heights Christian Academy of Chattanooga 50-41 in Saturday night's tournament finals.

Tournament MVP Kendall Spray ripped four 3-pointers and finished with 23 points. Kayla Jackson had 13 points and Addison Byrd 10 -- as both earned spots on the all-tournament team.

Earlier Saturday, Wilson Central needed a little extra time to dispose of host Rhea County 44-41 in overtime. Spray had 16 points while Byrd had eight and Jackson seven.

On Friday, Wilson Central dusted Cannon County High 57-40. Coach John Wild's squad opened tournament play Thursday, Dec. 18 with a 55-32 victory over McMinn County.

SATURDAY GAME SET -- The Lady 'Cats play Evangelical Christian (7-4) out of Cordova Friday afternoon, Dec. 27 in the State Farm Classic at Riverdale High.

On Monday, Wilson Central is scheduled to play Memphis East at 1:30 p.m.
