LHS thumps Summertown in finals
BRENTWOOD -- Lebanon stormed to the championship of the annual Chick-fil-A Classic Saturday evening at Crockett Park, thumping Summertown 11-1 in the Gold Division finals.
Now 13-9-1 overall, the Lady Devils can set their sights on Thursday's 6 p.m. home game with District 9-AAA rival Wilson Central and Friday's 6 p.m. contest at Friendship Christian.
LHS took control early, scoring four runs in the first on an RBI double by Sarah Aubuchon, an RBI single by Shelby Jones and a two-run single by Kayla Beal.
Lebanon added another run in the third when Brooke McClendon sacrificed Megan Jaselskis home and extended the lead in the fourth on a two-run homer by Brianna Nagelhout.
Jones and Nagelhout both finished 3-for-4 while Beal, Aubuchon and Jaselskis each had two hits.
Junior Anna Smallwood went the distance in the circle for the decision.
Earlier Saturday, Lebanon reached the finals with a tight 3-2 victory over Battle Ground Academy in the semifinals.
Anna Bennett went 2-for-3, including a two-run single in the fourth that gave her team the lead. Nagelhout picked up the pitching decision.
On the way to the single-elimination phase of the tournament, Lebanon went 3-0-1, recording a 6-2 win over Mt. Juliet, a 7-3 victory over Summertown, a 12-4 decision over Cheatham County and a 7-7 tie with Franklin Page.
