Lasater case continued

Former Wilson County Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Lasater appeared in court on Tuesday and his case will be continued, said Sheriff Robert Bryan.

“The District Attorney’s office is doing all the prosecuting. We have turned everything over to them, so that is all I can say.”

Lasater resigned from both his position at the department and his position as Wilson County School Board’s Zone 5 representative in June 2013, following allegations of misconduct when using a company card for gasoline purchases. He had been employed by the WCSD for 26 years.

The case was continued to July 23; however, an agreement could be reached before then.

After Lasater’s resignation, Larry Tomlinson was selected by the Wilson County Commission to act as Zone 5 Board Member.

Jimmy Lea, the assistant district attorney handling the case, was in court on Thursday and could not be reached for comment by press time.
