NEXT UP, "O" ZONE WORLD SERIES
SWEETWATER -- Powered by 12 hits and three homers, the Lebanon Americans rolled to a 13-0 win over their rival Lebanon Americans in Tuesday’s championship game of the 12U Dixie “O” Zone State Tournament at the Sweetwater Recreation Complex.
The all-Lebanon final came on the heels of Sunday’s 1-0 win by the Lebanon Lions over Putnam County in the championship game of the 15U Babe Ruth State Tournament -- giving the Baird Park Complex two state crowns.
Both teams lost their tournament openers, then battled through the losers’ bracket to reach a one game, winner take all contest Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, the Lebanon Americans have qualified for the Dixie Youth “O” Zone World Series in Lexington, South Carolina. Play starts Saturday night, Aug. 9 as the newly crowned Tennessee champions will take on Louisiana in a 12-team, double-elimination tournament.
