NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, recently conducted a study to find the best cities in Tennessee for millennial job seekers - and Lebanon ranked among the top 20.
To find the best communities for recent graduates and millennials looking to launch their careers, NerdWallet evaluated 87 cities, towns and census-designated places and examined the following variables: percentage of millennials, millennial population growth, unemployment rate, average worker payroll and median rent.
NerdWallet ranked Lebanon the 20th best city for millennial job seekers in Tennessee. The city experienced a 6.8 percent increase in its millennial population from 2010 to 2013, bringing its number of 18-to-33-year-old residents to 20 percent. Young people in Lebanon earned an average of $40,410 during 2012. Lebanon also remains relatively affordable, with a median monthly rent of $790.
"The Volunteer State is home to a number of excellent destinations for millennial job seekers," NerdWallet Analyst Kamran Rosen said. "Young professionals in Tennessee enjoy a booming economic climate, opportunities for outdoor adventuring and unbeatable culture centered around the state's rich musical history."
