Lebanon lead evaporates

Lebanon’s Blue Devils saw a 14-point second half lead evaporate Tuesday night in a 90-87 loss to Cookeville at Campbell Brandon Gymnasium. LHS fell to 3-3 in District 7AAA and 9-7 overall.

Mitchell Hill drilled a 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Cavs (16-6) to the victory.

Blue Devil senior Xavier Smith led all scorers with 31, including three 3-pointers. Casey Nunley added 16, Robert Crudup had 14 and Brent Morris 11.

Cookeville was led by Judah Akers with 22 -- including four 3-pointers.

The Lady Cavs improved to 15-6 overall with a 51-35 win over Lebanon in Tuesday’s opener.

Cookeville clamped down on LHS senior Icelyn Elie, holding the MTSU signee to just eight points. Marissa Jennings led Lebanon with 16 points and McKenzie Lamberson added six.

Lebanon, now 5-10 overall & 2-5 in District 7AAA play, will host Oakland Friday, Jan. 23.
