Mt. Juliet High graduate and former professional quarterback Levi Brown has joined Coach Trey Perry's coaching staff at MJHS in a non-faculty position and will work with the Golden Bear signal callers.
A 2005 MJ graduate, Brown went on to become a record-setting passer at Troy University where he was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year.
He was an All-Region honoree under former Mt. Juliet head coach David Crawford.
"To say the least, we're very excited to have Levi working with us," Perry said. "Our kids will get the benefit of his wide range of experience. And best of all, he's a Bear."
The son of Joe and Kay Brown, Levi finished second in the nation in 2009, passing for 4,254 yards while establishing both Troy and Sun Belt Conference records.
Brown was a seventh round (209th overall) selection of the Buffalo Bills in the 2010 NFL draft. He worked as the Bills' third quarterback and practice squad quarterback in parts of 2010 and 2011.
He also played briefly with two Canadian Football League teams, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Brown recently turned down a contract with the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League.
Mt. Juliet opens the 2014 season at home Friday, Aug. 22 vs. Lebanon.
