LEBANON -- Eskew Field in the Baird Park Complex will be the site for the Babe Ruth 15s State Baseball Tournament in late July. Hosted by the Lebanon Lions Club Babe Ruth League, the 10-team, double elimination tournament cranks up Friday, July 23 with a full slate of four games.

Tournament finals are planned for Tuesday, July 27. The Lebanon 15 year old all-stars will open tournament play in McMinnville July 15, but will earn an automatic berth to the state, regardless of their finish in McMinnville.

The tournament will be dedicated to the memory of two longtime Lions and Babe Ruth League officers, Charlie Baird and Tim Denny, both of whom died last year.

“Both these gentlemen dedicated many hours to our Babe Ruth baseball operation,” said Lions Club officer David McKinney. “We’re dedicating the tournament, as well as the game program, to Charlie and Tim as a way of paying tribute to their contributions.”

Advertising sales for the game program are presently under way with proceeds offsetting tournament costs. For information, call 444-1113 or 443-8383.
