LOCAL SPORTS -- Two WCHS athletes sign

Noah Stafford & Damon Smith

Stafford for football; Smith for wrestling
GLADEVILLE -- Two members of the Wilson Central graduating class of 2017 signed scholarship papers / National Letters of Intent Friday, March 3 in ceremonies held in the WCHS Auditorium.
Defensive lineman Noah Stafford, a three-year starter in the defensive front, signed with NCAA D-III Centre College in Danville, Ky.
An All-Wilson County and All Region selection as a senior, Stafford is the son of Rodney and Jennifer Stafford.
He's an honor student, having scored a 31 on the ACT and holding a GPA of over 4.4.

Veteran wrestler Damon Smith signed Friday with hometown Cumberland University.
Smith earned back-to-back fifth place finishes in the TSSAA Class AAA state championships in both 2017 and 2016.
As a Wildcat senior, he ran up an overall record of 60-8 in the 170-pound division.
Smith is the son of Lora Smith.
