LYBA fall baseball

Kiwanis and Rotary will be offering fall baseball starting Aug. 15 and running through Sept. 30. Playing ages will include 7-12 years of age based on age on April 30, 2014 (playing age for next spring season). 7-8 year olds will be coach pitch. Online registration is available via a link at

SSMS baseball tryoutsSouthside Middle School will have tryouts for its 2013-2014 baseball team 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 26, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at the baseball field. Players in grades 6, 7, and 8 are encouraged to attend. Players should be dressed in proper baseball attire baseball pants, t-shirt, hat, glove, and cleats. Players must bring a copy of a current physical exam.

Lebanon Clowns celebrationThe Roy Bailey African American Museum and History Center celebrate the legacy of Negro League Baseball Players, honoring the Lebanon Clowns Baseball Team. The event is planned for 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28 at Pickett-Rucker United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Charlie E. McAdoo will be the guest speaker. The annual Chris Price Athletic Award will be presented.

Lebanon jr pro footballSign-ups for the fall 2013 season of Jr / Sr Pro Football are being accepted online at Sponsored by the City of Lebanons Recreation Department, divisions will be offered for players: ages 6 & 7; 8 & 9 and 10 & 11. Players must be six on or before Aug.1, 2013 and not 12 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2013. Sign-ups will also be accepted in person at the Harold Dean Greer Building in the Baird Park Complex, 416 Baird Park Circle (M-F, 7:30 - 4:30). A nonrefundable registration fee of $40 is due at sign-up.

WUSL signups set June 27Recreational league signups for the Wilson United Soccer League will be held Saturday, July 27 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 Noon at Byars Dowdy Elementary School for ages 3 and up, adult and select players. For information, call 443-4833 or visit

HP mens invitationalThe 36th annual Hunters Point Mens Invitational will be held Saturday and Sunday Aug. 3 and 4. Entry fee is $110 which includes a practice round, prizes and lunch. Carts are not included. This tournament will be pre-flighted. For information, call 444-7521 or visit

Parents' night out at CUThe Cumberland University womens basketball program is sponsoring Parents Night Out for ages 2-10 from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center. Movies, games, arts and crafts, sports and other activities will be a part of the evening. Snacks and drinks will be provided for the children and cost is $10 per child.
