Several Lebanon-area schools are set to take part in a special running event Saturday morning at Winfree Bryant Middle School.

Students will be a part of the Run4Water organization's Run Around the World event, a 24-hour period that will consist of a variety of kids and adults running to raise awareness of the water crisis. Ultra-marathoners, everyday runners and walkers will join together to collectively run 24,901 miles - the distance around the earth.

Race organizer and Run4Water founder Greg Armstrong will be competing in the 24-hour race with several other ultramarathoners. Armstrong is also a teacher and cross country coach at Friendship Christian School.

Ultra races will begin at 6 a.m., followed by other distance races at 7 a.m. The Kid's Marathon 1-mile event will begin at 8 a.m. and carry on at intervals.

Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto plans to be at the event from 9 until 11 a.m. to present medals to student runners.

Run4Water, based in Castalian Springs, is a non-profit organization that strives to raise awareness and provide solutions for the worldwide water crisis. The organization holds events that encourage others to get involved and make a difference.
