Wilson County will be well represented Saturday with two teams and one individual in the TSSAA state cross country meet at Nashville’s Percy Warner Park - Steeplechase.
Lebanon High sophomore Caitlyn Strickland finished sixth in the Region 5-AAA meet Thursday, Oct. 25 at Hendersonville’s Sanders Ferry Park and earned an individual berth. Strickland, is the first LHS female to reach the state since 1999. She ran the regional course in a time of 20:24 after having trained a good part of the summer with her older sister and an aunt.
The Lebanon boys advanced as a team in third place finish with 99 points.
Station Camp won the region with 56 points, followed by runner-up Hendersonville High with 82.
LHS junior Mark Britt will be making a second consecutive trip to the state, having finished second in the regional meet with a time of 16:10 -- a personal best.
Also making the state are Blue Devils Anthony Reeves (16th at 17:50), Austin Montgomery (23rd at 18:04), Caleb Kawasaki (27th at 18:31), Deiontae Sullivan (31st at 18:25), Stephen Burns (34th at 18:21) and Cole Langford (50th at 19:09).
FCS girls finish fourth
NASHVILLE -- Friendship Christian’s girls team earned a berth in this week’s Division II state meet with a fourth place showing in the DII, East-Middle Class A Regional at Percy Warner Park Thursday, Oct. 24.
FCS runners finished 21nd, 22nd and 23rd -- led by eighth grader Ashlyn Pittman with a time of 22:34. Next was senior Brooke Groff at 22:38 followed by eighth grader Zoe Kane at 22:43.
Haley Bogner was 33rd at 24:48, Carlee Ilias was 36th at 25:01, Rachel Heronimus finished 38th at 25:24 and Alex Pulliam placed 45th with a time of 27:13.
Friendship’s boys just missed out on a state berth with a fifth place finish.
