The main characters were Capt. Wilton Parmenter (Ken Berry), Sgt. ORourke (Forrest Tucker), Corp. Agarn (Larry Storch) and Wrangler Jane (Melody Patterson). Other cast members of the 1965-67 series, set at Fort Courage, Kansas, were James Hampton, Joe Brooks, Bob Steele, Frank DeKova and Don Diamond. The lyrics to the theme song began like this: The end of the Civil War was near, When quite accidentally, A hero who sneezed, abruptly seized, Retreat and reversed it to victory! I guess you had to be there.

That event goes down the hatch on June 16. The Moon Pie brand was created in 1917, and the trademark registered in 1919. Did you know that the Big Bill Lister song Gimme an RC Cola and a Moon Pie was a country radio hit in 1951? Neither did I.Big Bill was born Weldon E. Lister and earned the nickname Radio's Tallest Singing Cowboy since he stood 6-foot-7 in his bare feet.

Day, 88, appears in 39 films and made 29 record albums. She lives in Carmel, Calif., and was active for years in animal welfare. The Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center in Murchison, Texas, was opened and named after her in 2011. Turner Classic Movies, Sony Masterworks and Warner Home Video recently teamed to release a four-movie DVD package and a double-CD set with 31 of Days songs. You know what she says? Que sera, sera.
