WHS girls fall to Upperman
WATERTOWN -- Ty Love's double-double paced Watertown to a 56-52 win over Monterey Tuesday in the consolation round of the Watertown Christmas Tournament.
The sophomore connected on 11-of-16 shots from the field to finish with 24 points and pulled in 10 rebounds as the Purple Tigers improved to 9-8 on the season. Dylan Speck added 18 and Seth Price 12.
Watertown connected on 16-of-26 free throw attempts and outscored Monterey 212-12 in the fourth quarter.
WHS returns to action Friday, Jan. 2 as Chattanooga School of Arts & Science comes to town for a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
(girls) Upperman 63, Watertown 50
WATERTOWN -- Upperman improved to 14-3 on the season following a 63-50 win over Watertown's Tigerettes Tuesday in the consolation round of the Watertown Christmas Tournament.
Watertown's girls slipped to 11-5 with the loss, despite 11 points from Bobbi Staats. DaeDae Nunley added seven while Jenna Haun, Lauren Robertson and Bay Cole each scored six points.

WATERTOWN -- A furious fourth quarter comeback fell short Monday night as Watertown dropped a narrow 51-50 loss to Davidson Academy in the fourth annual Watertown Christmas Tournament.
Trailing 45-40 after three periods, the Purple Tigers outscored their guests 10-6 in the fourth quarter, but never took the lead.
Dylan Speck continued his inspired play with 22 points, connecting on 10-of-16 shots from the field. He added seven rebounds. Seth Price chipped in with 11 points and Ty Love had six. Brant Martin led the team with eight rebounds.
Watertown finished 6-of-14 at the free throw line (43%) and 2-of-11 on 3-pointers (18%).
