We're so proud of our democracy and rightfully so. But on election day often times, and so was the case Tuesday, we seem to forget that it is our country that is the foundation and anchor of democracy.
Our right to vote is a privilege. It's a privilege that many in other countries are not afforded. Voting represents our right to make choices in government.
Ask those on the streets in Syria about a free government or those who question the recent election in Russia.
Our responsibilities in a democracy are few, but one primary responsibility is to vote so that we in fact do have a voice in our government whether it be local, state or national.
Shame on us for not voting.
