Officers with the Lebanon Police Department arrested a fugitive wanted in two states Sunday, Sept. 28.

According to a statement issued by LPD Chief Scott Bowen, 31-year-old Eric Darden, of North Carolina, attempted to make a purchase at a Brooks Brothers clothing store in Franklin on a previous occasion, and his credit card was denied. Franklin police later discovered the card Darden had attempted to use was stolen.

Other area stores were notified, and an employee at the Lebanon store located in the Premium Outlets Mall recognized Darden when he attempted to make a purchase.

Employees stalled Darden and contacted Lebanon officers. Police arrived and found Darden was wanted in Wisconsin and North Carolina for several counts of felony larceny and identity theft. Both states were contacted and placed a hold on him for extradition.

A search of Darden's vehicle revealed large quantities of merchandise, including clothing, sunglasses and iPads.

Darden was charged with being a fugitive from justice and will return to the other jurisdictions to face his charges there.
