The Lebanon Special School District will host STEP (Support and Training for Exceptional Parents), Inc. for training to help parents learn about their child's educational needs and their rights under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) during a workshop on Monday, April 11.
STEP is a federally funded program that provides information, training and support to parents of children with disabilities. STEP is holding parent training workshops across Tennessee, and parents who have attended them have been excited with all the information they have learned and the assistance that they have received, according to the LSSD.
The workshop will be held from 6 until 8:30 p.m. at Castle Heights Elementary School, located at 1007 Castle Heights Avenue. All parents of children in special education, professionals and parents of children that might need special education are invited to attend the free workshop. Register by calling Beth Petty at (615) 453-2693 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Seating is limited.
