LYB NATIONALS -- Win state, World Series bound

The Lebanon Youth Baseball National League All-Stars have earned a berth in next month's Dixie Ozone World Series after winning the Tennessee State Championship Tuesday in Loretto.

The 11-12 year-old LYB squad will take on the Texas state champions 5:45 pm Saturday, Aug. 6 in the opening round of the World Series -- being hosted by Laurel, MS.

The winner of the Tennessee v. Texas game will advance to Sunday's 8 p.m. against either Arkansas or Virginia.

Under the direction of manager Kevin Gaines and assistants Jeff Fish and Paul McFarlin, the Nationals knocked off Madison South (Jackson) 10-7 in the state finals -- completing a 6-0 run through the tournament -- outscoring their opponents 60-20.

Team members include, from left: Denton Dodson, Jake Jewell, Sam Parish, Ian Fryer, Jaylin Abston, Eli Carson, Coach Jeff Fish, Coach Paul McFarlin, Manager Kevin Gaines, Kendal Bayse, Storm Sellars, Emilio Jimenez, Bryce Kelley, Brett Bowman and Kaden Seay.
