Nationals down Americans 9-8 in finals
ASHLAND CITY -- Down 8-4 after four innings, the Lebanon Rotary American (11-12) all-stars rallied for a 9-8 win over the Lebanon Rotary National all-stars Thursday night in the District 4 tournament finals.
A young team with only three 12 year-olds, the Americans struck for five runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 9-8 lead. Reliever Luke Bradshaw, who took over for starter Brady Chappell, held the Nationals scoreless the rest of the way.
By playing in the championship game, both LYBA squads earned a spot in next week's Dixie Youth O-Zone State Tournament in Dyersburg.
The Americans earned a shot at the Nationals with a clutch 9-3 victory over Greenbrier earlier Thursday in a loser-out contest.
