Perhaps there’s another showdown in the future for Lebanon’s two entries in the Dixie Youth O-Zone 12U all-star teams.
In its first year of operation, the Lebanon Youth Baseball Association sent two all-stars into postseason play in 2013 and as it turned out, the American and National squads rolled through their respective tournaments and finished second and third at the state level.
Monday night, both squads posted impressive wins in their sub-districts and will move on to district tournament play beginning Friday, June 27 in Coopertown.
Americans 13, Greenbrier 3
LEBANON -- The LYBA Americans rode a seven strikeout effort from starter Braden Reece and a two-run homer off the bat of Luke Bradshaw to power past Greenbrier 13-3 in Monday’s South Sub-District finals at Penuel Field.
The Americans reached the finals with a 20-0 victory over Portland Sunday as Kameron Bond got the pitching decision with three innings of two-hit work.
Bond, who struck out seven, also chipped in with a homer and a double.
Nationals 16, Pleasant View 0
WHITE HOUSE -- The LYBA Nationals smoked Pleasant View 16-0 in Monday night’s North Sub-District finals at White House Municipal Park.
Jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, the locals added two runs in the second, two more in the third, a single run in the fourth, then brought the championship game to an early conclusion with a seven run burst in the fifth. Lebanon pounded out 12 hits in the game and Garrett Pope finished with three runs batted in.
On Sunday, Lebanon downed host White House 6-3 after having blasted White House 20-2 Saturday evening.
The Nationals opened the tournament with an 11-6 win over Ashland City Friday.
