While loading the patient onto a stretcher, the WEMA personnel told officers the ambulance engine revved up and they noticed a white male attempting to take the ambulance. The suspect was stopped by WEMA personnel from putting the ambulance in gear and they notified police.
According to authorities, Melamed said he was upset the ambulance was blocking his vehicle and he decided to move it himself.
Melamed was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail and charged with one count of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, which is a Class A misdemeanor.
