Bowen said Cpl. Timothy Murray was canvassing the area for the Buick when he spotted a vehicle, matching the description, parked in the roadway on Wildwood Avenue.

The Buick was parked next to a Mercedes and Murray said the drivers side window of the Mercedes was shattered. A white male, matching the suspect description from Kroger, was reportedly seen taking golf clubs from the trunk of the Mercedes.

Bowen said when Montague saw Murray, he put the clubs back in the trunk and approached Murrays patrol car. Murray indicated Montague had a strong smell of intoxicant and seemed disoriented.

A search of Montagues person and his vehicle produced the wallet allegedly stolen from the woman at Kroger, a wallet belonging to someone who was inside Immanuel Baptist Church playing basketball and an iPhone that also reportedly didnt belong to Montague.

Bowen said the owner of the wallet stolen from IBC indicated a man came into the gym asking a group of men playing basketball for money and they refused. The man said he later noticed his wallet was missing.

Officers also found the owner of the iPhone who reportedly said a man approached her at a Kangaroo gas station and asked her for money. She told him no and went inside to pay for gas. When she returned, she said her phone was missing from her vehicle.

Bowen said officers were also informed of a broken window at Immanuel Baptist.

All items were returned to their rightful , and no one was injured in the hit-and-run.

Montague was booked into the Wilson County Jail on Aug. 7 and released the following day on $14,500 bond.
