A man suspected of robbing a store and then shooting a store employee in the leg before fleeing on Aug. 1 in Lebanon was arrested on Monday.

Marcus Sweatt of 850 Bluebird Road, Lebanon, was picked up by Metro Nashville Police on Monday and then transferred to Lebanon Police who transported him to the Wilson County Jail for booking. Sweatt was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault and remains in jail under $25,000 bond.

The incident in which Sweatt is charged occurred about 5:15 p.m., Aug. 1, at Jimmy B’s Thrift on East Main Street. Police, arriving on the scene, found a male victim, the store employee, had been shot in the leg.

The victim told police the suspect entered the store with his face covered and demanded money. When the employee did not give the money to the suspect fast enough, he said the suspect shot him.

The employee gave the suspect the money and then he fled on foot. The victim was transported to University Medical Center for treatment.

Sweatt is to appear in court on Thursday, Aug. 28.
