A two-day trial in Judge David Durham’s courtroom ended in a guilty verdict for second-degree murder for Antony G. Whited, 55, Thursday.

Whited was charged with second-degree murder in the July 2006 slaying of his next door neighbor Charles Kieren, then 36, in a case investigated by Lebanon Police Det. Eddie Bowen.

The two men lived on opposite halves of a duplex on Martin Avenue in Lebanon. Police reported that the two had a disagreement that escalated into a physical altercation on July 29, 2006.

Whited pulled a knife and during the scuffle stabbed Kieren in the chest, said Assistant Prosecutor Brian Fuller, who with Assistant Prosecutor Linda Walls handled the case for the state. Attorney Jack Lowery represented the defendant.

Kieren was transported to the University Medical Center where he died several days later.
