A man shot multiple times Monday night is already out of the hospital as an investigation into the incident continues.
Lebanon Police Chief Scott Bowen said Tuesday afternoon that police received a call regarding shots fired on East Forrest Avenue about 8:30 p.m., Monday, July 28, and as they were responding, received a call from someone at University Medical Center saying doctors were treating a patient with gunshot wounds.
The victim, identified as Michael Bass, 18, of Lebanon, was believed to have driven himself to UMC after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, one of which was on the right side of his face. Bass was then transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by LifeFlight helicopter and has since been released.
“Very, very fortunate,” was how Bowen described Bass.
“We do believe he knew his assailant. We believe he (Bass) was armed, also,” the police chief said. “We believe he knows the shooter, or shooters.”
Police on Tuesday were continuing to collect evidence from the vehicle and interviewing witnesses. The motive remains under investigation.
