Martha N. Smith, age 92 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Dr. Charles Moffatt officiating and Kyle Heckman and Kent Heckman honoring her.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 11 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 7, 1924 in Perry County, KY to the late Adam Napier and Fairalene Smith Napier. She was a long time elementary school teacher in Sumner County. For decades, she, her husband & family owned & ran the Sumner Drive-In Theater on Nashville Pike. She, along with family, also built & ran the original Dairy Queen in Gallatin.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Harold N. Smith; brother, Mitchell Napier; sister, Gladys Akins; and son-in-law, Walter "Butch" Heckman.
She is survived by son, Harold Glenn Smith of Nashville; daughter, Joy Smith Heckman of Nashville; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Heckman (Stephanie), Kent Heckman (Amy), Austin Smith, and Jacob Smith; and 3 great grandchildren, Matthew Heckman, Luke Heckman, and Grant Heckman; nephew Brad Gryszko.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 214 Overlook Circle, Suite 153, Brentwood, TN 37027. American Cancer Society or Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Fund.
