A plan is in the worksto create a cooperative agreement with Mt. Juliet Christian Academy with an eye toward the 2013 football season.
Oncethe agreement is approved, MCA will cease to field an eight-man program which would allow interested athletes to participate in regular 11-man football at MJCA.
"We will be seeking co-op options for several sports, including football with MJCA," said MCA athletic director Seth Bass. "But as of now, volleyball and basketball are unlikely to be included."
In anticipation of the co-op deal being finalized, Bass will serve on the MJCA coaching staff as defensive coordinator.
Bulldog student-athletes will now have the opportunity to participate in sports such as soccer, tennis, baseball and softball on established MJ Christian teams.
The TSSAA administers sporting events for an estimated 110,000 participants, 374 schools and 5,500 teams.
