"I wrestled under a beloved coach in Jerry Kirby at Mt. Juliet and worked with an outstanding technical coach at Wilson Central in John Kramer," Mitchell said. "I'm excited to now be a part of the Lebanon High community and look forward to working with a great group of young men."
Mitchell, 33, earned two trips to the TSSAA state tournament as a 112-pounder for the Golden Bears, and in addition to assisting with the Wildcat varsity, he ran Wilson Central's "club program" -- geared toward developing young wrestlers as young as five years of age.
"Kyle is a quality guy, who is new to the teaching profession," said LHS athletic director Darian Brown. "He was in his family construction business for several years before deciding to go back to school in order to teach and coach.
"He has a passion for young people, a passion for wrestling. He'll be a good fit here at Lebanon."
Mitchell is a 2010 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and is certified in special education.
