DONELSON -- Taking control early, Mt. Juliet rolled to a 49-10 victory at McGavock Thursday night, Oct. 27, wrapping up the Region 3, 6A championship in the process.

The Golden Bears wrapped up the regular season 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the region earning a first round home game in the TSSAA playoffs Nov. 4 against the No. 8 team from Region 4, 6A Bartlett High (3-7).

Thursday's contest was never in doubt at MJHS popped to a 21-0 first quarter lead and never looked back.

The margin ballooned to 42-0 at intermission as reserves flooded the field for Mt. Juliet.

QB Mason Earls completed all five of his pass attempts for 98 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran four times for 31 yards.

Workhorse Aiden Raines logged 11 first half touches for 78 yards and a score and Marcello Walton added 66 yards on just three carries.

Lawson Rich hauled in two passes for 35 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Zac Whitaker connected with Earls for a 36-yard TD pass.

Strong safety Tony Thompson recorded a 25-yard return of an intercepted pass early in the second quarter.
