Mt. Juliet and Friendship Christian have the luxury of playing at home tonight as TSSAA region tournament play cranks up.

The No. 2-ranked Lady Bears narrowly won the District 9AAA championship earlier this week and will host Springfield, the No. 4 team out of District 10AAA, in a 7 p.m. game tonight at “The Cave”.

Miss Basketball finalist Caya Williams rattled in a 25-foot buzzer-beater at the end of overtime Monday to lift Mt. Juliet to a 50-48 victory over Station Camp in the District 9AAA tournament finals. Battling from behind for most of the game, Mt. Juliet finally caught Station Camp at 42-all on a bank shot by Williams in the final 1:30 of regulation. Williams led the Lady Bears with 25 points.  Mt. Juliet comes in 28-2 on the season.

Friendship Christian, the 8A tournament runner-up, is set to entertain Clay County tonight at the Bay Family Sportsplex. Friendship Christian fell to 17-9 overall with a 44-32 loss to Red Boiling Springs Monday in the 8A championship game at Gordonsville High School.

Wilson Central and Lebanon -- two teams that played in the 9AAA consolation game -- will both be on the road tonight.

Wilson Central (23-4), the third place team in 9AAA, will travel to Montgomery County tonight for a regional game vs. Rossview, the 10AAA runner-up.

Lebanon High’s Devilettes (16-11) and the fourth place team in 9AAA, will play at 10AAA champion Clarksville High tonight.

Monday night in Gallatin, Wilson Central’s Lady Wildcats ran out to a comfortable lead and never looked back in a 50-38 victory over Lebanon High. Heather Hall paced Wilson Central with 17 while Ieshia Hassell added 14. Julia Fox led Lebanon High with 13 points while Marissa Jennings finished with 11.
